Venetian Plaster

VENETIAN PLASTER FINISHES

European artisans have used Venetian Sandstone or Venetian stucco for centuries in homes, offices, everyday buildings and on architectural masterpieces. The distinctive beauty of this luxurious wall surfacing has been admired by royalty, architects, designers, artists and upscale home-owners.  This is a truly remarkable product that gains new facets every day, smooth yet textured like true sandstone, it resembles the cut stone used in the chateaux of France.
The plaster is applied coarsely and then knocked down with a float to flatten it and cause the beads in the product to resemble the structure of stone; this is also sometimes called  "graffito" in Italian.  A Venetian Plaster surface can contain subtly graduated colors, pastels, bold colors, a rough finish, or - traditionally - a shiny, many-layered surface that appears to have three-dimensional depth. Handcrafted by Master Artisan Suzanne Pratt and her team at Venetian Studios

VENETIAN PLASTER AREAS
Plastered areas included premises within the home in the basement, main floor, and second floor totaling approximately 5200 square feet. Two artisans were working on this project, the whole job of this caliber was completed  in two and a half weeks with no delays. Usually the completion of such projects is partially dependant on weather and humidity levels.

MARMORINO PRODUCT
Lime-based Marmorino Venetial plaster is manufactured from aged slaked lime. Marmorino Venetian plaster product is breathable and naturally mould- and mildew resistant. There are two possible sheens of top coat wax available: flat (low sheen) and Burnishing wax (shiny) to match the interior design.

SURFACE PREPARATION AND SEQUENCE OF WORK
- all new drywall must be properly finished and sealed to the same standards as for semi-gloss paint - this means mudded, sanded, and properly primed with latex primer;
- the “sharktooth” undercoat is applied under the plaster to follow. This coating is applied in one coat with a semi-smooth roller just as any other paint would be;
- the lime-based plasters are applied in order to achieve the look of the sample of choice;
- finally, a finish coat of wax sealant is applied for protection in all areas.

SHIPMENT AND STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
All faux Venetian plaster products were shipped to Vancouver directly by the Ontario distributor company Faux Depot, Inc. The faux plaster products are usually delivered in several 5-gallon pails. Under normal delivery procedures all products are supplied on a skid and sealed with plastic wrapping. Caution must be exercised when shipping raw Marmorino Venetian plaster products and primer components in winter and below-zero weather conditions. Use of heated containers or vans is a must. Under no circumstances the Marmorino Venetian plaster products should freeze, otherwise they will become completely unusable.
